Any car accident involving a pedestrian has the possibility of resulting in severe personal injury or death. We are talking about a car weighing upwards of 2,000 pounds colliding with a pedestrian with no form of protection whatsoever. When the accident involves a bus that can easily weight 40,000 pounds, the accident can have horrific consequences. According to a recent news report form NBC News, a man was rushed to a level-one trauma center after being trapped underneath a Greyhound bus in downtown Washington, DC.

tiretreadAuthorities have said the 70-year-old man was severely injured when he was hit by the bus and then pinned underneath it for around 20 minutes until first responders could free him and transport him to the hospital. According to witnesses, the man was at the corner of 7th Street and Massachusetts Avenue, when the bus approached the corner. According to a recent news article from the Boston Globe, a car allegedly crashed into Dunkin’ Donuts in Canton, and two people were injured.

donuts-1254149Witnesses say the crash occurred around 3 p.m. when a woman in her 40s was allegedly driving her car at a speed that seemed to be too fast. At this point, as one witnessed surmised, she likely hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and came crashing through the doughnut shop. Continue reading

According to a recent report from My Fox Boston, two victims are in the hospital after a serious car accident in the greater Boston Area. At least one victim is listed as in critical condition.

mQo4CWyOne witness who spoke with reporters said he saw the crash happen. He said a semi tractor-trailer hit a Honda Civic. He said the truck had suddenly pulled out and hit the car. The force of the crashed propelled the Honda into a telephone pole. Continue reading

Authorities alleged that Fred Jackson, a running back for the Seattle Seahawks, crashed his sports car into a large planter box and stop sign outside the team’s practice facility. Authorities then alleged he dragged the sign across the two-lane road before coming to a stop. According to a recent news article from ESPN, Jackson was not hurt in the crash. Witnesses say Jackson’s black Corvette sustained moderate front-end damage.

30847_top_gearWhile this seems like a somewhat simple situation, matters were made more complex by the fact that TMZ reported Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, a fellow Seahawks’ running back well known for his refusal to speak with the media during last year’s Super Bowl, were involved in an illegal street race at the time of the crash. According to a recent news report form AL.com, former University of Alabama running back Altee Tenpenny died in a fatal single-car accident. A spokesperson for the highway patrol said the 20-year-old victim was driving on a major highway when he collided with a large metal sign. Witnesses say Tenpenny’s car flew through the air after hitting the metal highway sign and then started tumbling when it landed. It finally came to a stop when it crashed into a utility pole. Authorities say Tenpeny was ejected from the vehicle.

According to a recent news article from the Boston Globe, a Massachusetts State Police trooper was seriously injured in a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike (Mass Pike). Authorities say trooper was conducting a work detail in a Ford Explorer owned by MSP when a truck hit his vehicle. First, a detail is when an officer is off duty officially but being paid to watch a construction sight. This money is paid from the construction company and given to the trooper.

1235172_beeThe trooper was seriously injured in the car accident and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston. Doctors were still evaluating the total extent of his injures.  Troopers have not release any information about the driver of the semi tractor-trailer or whether he was injured. Continue reading

According to a recent article form the Salem News, a 50-year-old woman and her friend were riding their bikes in Salem, when she was hit by a horse trailer being towed by a pickup truck. It was at first considered to be a hit-and-run accident, because the driver of the vehicle never stopped to see what happened to the victim, but authorities were not certain the driver knew his trailer had hit a bicycle rider.

nriv4oeThere was, however, no question the victim knew the horse trailer hit her. When first responders arrived, they determined she had suffered life-threatening injuries, and they called for a medevac helicopter to transport her Boston Medical Center’s trauma center. When she arrived at the hospital, she was immediately taken into an emergency room, where they tested her for brain damage and paralysis. She was also treated for her broken collarbone, shoulder, elbow and skull fractures. Victim said she was slipping in and out of consciousness and didn’t really know what was going on, but knew things were not right. Continue reading

According to a recent news feature from WCVB Boston, a man allegedly drove an SUV into a crowd of people who were attending an auto auction. This serious car crash occurred in Framingham in the greater Boston area.

Authorities say the 78-year-old man was behind the wheel of a BMW when the vehicle began to accelerate unexpectedly and hit several people and cars at the auction house. One witness said he heard a lot of noise and saw people running in every direction. He said there were a lot of banging and crashing sounds. First responders were immediately called to the scene of the accident. One person was very seriously injured and was taken by medevac helicopter to a level-one trauma center in Boston.   Continue reading

Most people heard that Caitlyn Jenner, formally known as Bruce Jenner, prior to becoming Caitlyn, was involved in a deadly four-car accident. There has been a lot of speculation about whether she would be charged with negligent homicide in connection with this tragic accident, and the prosecutor’s office even said they were contemplating the possibility.

that-hurt-494062-mAccording to a recent report from Fox News via the CNN wire service, prosecutors will not be charging Caitlyn Jenner with any crimes in connection with the fatal car accident. Specifically, prosecutors said they completed a charge evaluation worksheet and determined there was not sufficient evidence to prove she was driving in a criminally negligent manner. As she was not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the deadly car accident, there would be no basis to charge her with a felony, so the only charge would have been a misdemeanor vehicle manslaughter charge.
