For the past several years, a man has been driving his custom Lamborghini Batmobile to hospitals around the Washington, DC area while wearing a very authentic looking Batman costume to visit sick children. He said he chose Batman, because Batman has no actual superpowers and is still able to be a successful superhero. He believed this concept was easier for sick children to identify with than a character with superhuman abilities.

life-and-death-2-1294270-mWhile he had been doing this for years, the general public first became acquainted with him when he was pulled over three years ago for driving the Batmobile on a public roadway without a state issued license plate. Instead, the man had a custom license plate with a Batman logo. His encounter with the officers was caught on dash-cams, and, when someone got hold of the footage, it was placed on the Internet and went viral. Everyone was talking about the Route 29 Batman. He tried to keep his secret identity hidden, but the media eventually published his real name. Continue reading

Motor vehicle accidents that occur in a tunnel are often far more complicated to deal with than accidents that occur on the open road. This includes the number of cars that may be involved in a chain reaction collision, the difficulty first responders may have in getting through traffic in the tunnel to get to the scene of the accident, as there is no emergency lane in a tunnel, the difficulty in providing care, and, later, clearing the scene of disabled vehicles.

meLL1T2According to a recent news article from the Boston Globe, a crash inside the O’Neill Tunnel wreaked havoc on the morning commute. Authorities say the multi-vehicle accident that occurred on a Wednesday began when a garbage truck lost a large metal door from the rear of the vehicle. After the metal door hit the road surface, a semi tractor-trailer ran over it. When the truck ran over the garbage truck’s door, its oil pan and gas tank were both slashed by the metal door, causing oil and gas to start spraying all over the road surface. Continue reading

Accidents in which a pedestrian is hit by a motor vehicle are generally very serious and sometimes deadly. While people may take a lot of things for granted when driving or riding in a car, the average vehicle weighs around 2,000 pounds and can do serious damage to a person, even at very slow speeds. The reason for this is because when a vehicle comes in contact with a person, the vehicle doesn’t move or “give” in any way. Even at speeds at less than five mph, a car hitting a person can do significant damage and may even be deadly.

one-car-key-1149771-mWhile every accident is different, we normally hear about a person getting hit by a car that is being driven by someone else. However, it is more common that one might think for a person to be run over by his or her own vehicle, if a brake is not properly applied when the driver exits the car, truck, or SUV. Some traffic accidents involve only property damage, while others involve property damage and personal injury. Normally when we think of property damage resulting from a car accident, we are thinking of damage to other vehicles involved in the crash. However, in some car accidents, it is not only a car that is damaged but also other property, such as streetlights, or local businesses on the side of the road where the traffic crash occurred. According to a recent news article from NECN, a truck flipped over multiple times and crashed into a Salisbury used car dealership, damaging six cars and two boats.

In order to become a police officer, you generally have to take a mental fitness exam by way of a writing diagnostic tool, pass a physical fitness test, and pass an academic skills test. At this point, you are assigned a score based upon your overall performance on the application test battery and will be selected or not selected for a future academy class based upon your scores on these tests.

mPIXIhIAs part of the mental fitness exam, they also generally include a personality survey that asks how you will respond in certain situations. In some cases, they are looking for particular actions and responses, and, in other cases, they are trying to assess whether you are answering the questions truthfully.
